Aluminum plate is used as an architectural feature on buildings. Typically 1/8” aluminum plate is used to construct panels that can form columns, feature bands, or cornices. The aluminum is bent and welded into a variety of different shapes. The advantage of using Aluminum plate panels over other prefinished material is it allows a more complex and stronger panel. Also, the aluminum plate panels are factory painted in a controlled environment after fabrication. The paint finishes available are much greater than any pre-finished materials. The panel joint detail on Aluminum plate panels is typically caulked.
